How windy is too windy?

Let’s get one thing straight: wind can be just as powerful as it is invisible. Wind can significantly affect the stability and safety of inflatable structures, so it’s crucial to know when conditions are too windy for safe operation. Wind does not play well with kids in bounce houses, as it can turn a water slide into a sail boat faster than you can yell “get off, now!”

Even though it costs our company thousands of dollars a year, we’ve seen too many videos and tragic news stories to push the limits in the interest of avoiding a cancellation. There’s no worse way to ruin a party than when tragedy strikes.

Safety is our top priority when it comes to your bounce house experience.

As a general rule, bounce houses should not be used when wind speeds exceed 15-20 miles per hour (mph), as recommended by most manufacturers and industry safety standards. Strong winds can cause the bounce house to become unstable and even lift off the ground, posing risks to users. To ensure everyone’s safety, we closely monitor weather conditions and recommend checking local wind forecasts before your event.

If you’re setting up a bounce house, use an anemometer or a reliable weather app to measure wind speed at your location. Gusty conditions, even if the average wind speed is below 15 mph, can also be hazardous, so err on the side of caution.

Our team provides secure anchoring systems and follows strict setup protocols to minimize risks, but we may postpone or cancel rentals if winds are forecasted to exceed safe limits.

If you’re unsure about the weather or need guidance, contact us, and we’ll help you make the safest decision for your event.
